Circle R Ranch has volunteer opportunities each week of day camp. This role mostly helps in the corral and on the trail with the horses and the younger campers (SK – grade 2). Positions are limited so please apply as soon as possible if you are interested. Bus transportation is available out of various stops in London, ON.
Qualifications:
- 13 years of age or older
- Need to commit to being here each day for the entire week (9 am to 4:15 pm, Monday to Friday). Volunteers may sign up for between one and three weeks max. They may be asked to come for more weeks in some instances.
- Must feel comfortable working with horses
- Previous experience leading and riding horses is an asset
- Previous experience working with children is an asset
- Attend our Volunteer training day (date to be confirmed soon)
- First Aid and CPR is an asset but not necessary
Volunteer Duties
- Leading ponies for Tyke campers (SK – grade 2)
- Grooming horses
- Unsaddling horses
- Watering horses
- General help around the corral
- Please note volunteers usually do not get to ride the horses
What Volunteers Need to Bring
- Rubber boots (it can get very muddy in the corral)
- Change of socks (some days can be wet and helps prevent blisters)
- Sun hat
- Water bottle
- Appropriate attire (shorts with 4 inch minimum inseam and no spaghetti strap tank-tops, “kid-friendly” slogans only)
- Rain pants and rain coat (this is recommended to bring every day as the weather can shift suddenly)
